OVERVIEW

This qualification reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances.

Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.

International students complete a total of 25 units over 8 terms of study (2 years).

Career options include working as a Dental Technician who can be either self-employed, or work in public or private industry in a dental laboratory, directly or indirectly under the prescription of a Dentist.
